Frequently Asked Questions About Our Queenstown Wine Tours
Answers to the most common questions about tastings, timing, transport, cancellations, and more.
1. Which wineries will we visit on each tour?
We visit a curated selection of boutique wineries and tasting rooms that showcase the best of Central Otago:
Queenstown Wine Tour with Wine Dog: Gibbston Valley Wines (with wine cave tour), Kinross, and a rotating third stop at either Rockburn or Brennan Wines.
Queenstown Afternoon Wine Tour: Amisfield, Kinross, and a rotating third stop at either Rockburn or Brennan Wines.
Queenstown Gin, Wine & Beer Tour: Rifters Gin, Amisfield and Canyon Brewing.
2. What’s included in your Queenstown wine tours?
Every tour includes luxury transport, a friendly local wine host, and hosted tastings at three stunning venues. You’ll enjoy a curated tasting of wines, spirits, or craft beers at some of the region’s most picturesque and acclaimed cellar doors.
3. Where do the tours depart from?
Queenstown Wine Tour with Wine Dog: We offer selected hotel pickups in Queenstown and along Frankton Road, or you can meet us at the Tour Operators Bus Stop at 43 Camp Street, outside Marmolada Café. Just ask—we’re happy to accommodate where we can.
Queenstown Afternoon Wine Tour & Queenstown Gin, Wine & Beer Tour: These depart from the same central Tour Operators Bus Stop at 43 Camp Street location, outside Marmolada Café which is within easy walking distance of most accommodations.
4. How many tastings are included?
Our wine tours include 13+ premium tastings across three boutique wineries. On the Gin, Wine & Beer Tour, you’ll enjoy a hosted tasting or curated flight at each of the three stops. Every sip is hand-selected to showcase the region’s best.
5. Are your tours suitable for couples, groups, or solo travelers?
Absolutely. Whether you’re celebrating a honeymoon, planning a girls’ getaway, or flying solo, our small-group tours are warm, welcoming, and a great way to connect over a shared love of wine and great conversation.
6. Is food included during the tours?
Food isn’t included, but there are delicious opportunities to dine or snack along the way:
Queenstown Wine Tour with Wine Dog: We stop at Kinross for lunch—enjoy vineyard views, seasonal dishes, and a glass of wine if you fancy. We recommend a good breakfast beforehand.
Queenstown Afternoon Wine Tour: There’s time to order from the Cellar Door snack menu at Gibbston Valley Wines.
Queenstown Gin, Wine & Beer Tour: We visit Canyon Brewing first—food is available there, though we recommend a late lunch beforehand as you’ll be back in town around 6:30pm for dinner.
7. What happens if it rains?
No need to worry—our tours run in all weather. With cozy indoor tasting rooms, climate-controlled vehicles, and a glass (or three) of wine, rain just adds to the atmosphere.
8. Do I need to be a wine expert to enjoy the tour?
Not at all! Whether you’re just beginning your wine journey or you’re a seasoned sipper, our hosts make wine approachable, fun, and tailored to your pace. No wine snobs here—just great stories, better pours, and unforgettable memories.
9. Do you offer private tours or custom itineraries?
Yes! We specialize in private and custom wine tours for couples, groups, and special occasions. Choose your wineries, set your pace, and let us handle the rest. Learn more about private tours →
10. How long are the tours?
Our Queenstown Wine Tour with Wine Dog tour is approximately 5 hours and our afternoon tours typically run for 3.5 hours. While private tours can be tailored to your preferred timing, you’ll have plenty of time to sip, relax, and explore at your own pace.
11. What should I wear on a wine tour?
Dress to sip and swirl in style! Flowy summer dresses, chic layers, or cosy winter coats—all are welcome. Queenstown weather can be full of surprises, so we recommend comfortable shoes and a light jacket (just in case the wine isn’t the only thing with a chill). Bonus points for vineyard-ready Instagram outfits!
12. How do I book a tour?
The easiest (and best!) way to book is directly through our website—you’ll get instant confirmation, live availability, and no third-party fuss. Planning something special? Reach out via phone or email and we’ll help you create a custom experience. Spaces are limited and our tours often sell out—book early to secure your preferred date!
13. What’s your cancellation policy?
We get it—plans change! You can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your tour begins for a full refund. For private or custom tours, different terms may apply—we’ll always confirm those when you book. Need to adjust something? Just reach out—we’re here to help.
